LDS Church announces NEW Youth Theme for 2021 - What Does It Mean?

A notice from the Young Men and Young Women General Presidencies posted to ChurchofJesusChrist.org says:

President Russell M. Nelson has invited every young woman and every young man to “enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord to help gather Israel.” In response to the prophet’s invitation, and in coordination with the course of study for seminary and Come, Follow Me, the youth theme chosen for 2021 is “Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind” (Doctrine and Covenants 64:33–34).

I'm very curious how many of us will take the time to study the verse that is presented on this poster:

“Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind”

If we break this down we can try to see the significance of the scripture and what the Prophet is asking of us. Let's try to see if we can understand the different parts of this verse.

- Be not weary in well-doing: Possibly missionary work? Spreading the gospel? Being a good member of the Church and a good human being?

- For ye are laying the foundation of a great work: preparing for the Second Coming

- And out of small things proceedeth that which is great: we might think that our portion of God's work is small, but small things build up to great things.

- Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind: this one is interesting. Heavenly Father requires us not to just believe in the Gospel but to also live it in our hearts. A keyword in this is "willing" which to me showcases how vital it will be in the Second Coming and days leading up to it to have your own individual testimony of the Gospel.

These are just my thoughts on what this particular verse means but we would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this as well! Let us know in the comments!
