I can’t remember a time when I didn’t believe in God or love Him. When I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1983 at the age of twenty-three, I was ecstatic to have found the truth. I served a mission and then got married and started a family, but too many unanswered questions led to the loss of my testimony. I became anti-Mormon in every way imaginable and used my skills as an attorney to prove to people that the Church was wrong.

After twenty-six years of rabid hatred toward the Church, my heart softened, and I was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the second time. The same God whom I loved as a child, and whom I never stopped believing in, showed me miracle after miracle and brought me home.

This book is about my journey of finding the truth, losing my testimony, fighting against the truth, and then returning to the church that I had hated for so long. It’s about God’s love for His children and His knowledge about the most intimate details of our lives.

In October 2017, LDS Living Magazine wrote an article about my story. Since then, I have been interviewed by several other media outlets and have spoken at dozens of firesides across the United States. To date, my story has reached about one million people, and I hope it continues to spread—not because I want fame or glory, but because I love the Lord and love sharing my testimony.

I want others to know Him the way I do. I want people to know that God loves them and has a plan for them, that we have a living  prophet today who guides us. I now know with all my heart that the Church is true, and I want others to know the same.

Since my story went viral on the internet, I have received more than a thousand emails and Facebook messages from people who have been touched by my story. Many of those people have asked to hear more about my story, and others have asked me how to handle certain doubts. That is why I have written this book—to share my story in hopes that it will lead others to Christ. This book is divided into two parts. Part one discusses my conversion, my falling away and becoming anti-Mormon a few years later, and my reconversion.

In part two, I cover some of the common gospel questions people have asked me about why we need a prophet, how to overcome doubts, and how they can see miracles like I have.

As you read this book, you may have questions about my first wife and my children. However, I have chosen not to discuss them in detail. This book is about my story and my journey, and I have purposely omitted facts about my family out of respect for their privacy. I hope you will offer them the same respect by focusing on my conversion and God’s love for His children, rather than on any unanswered questions you may have about my family.

Most of all, I hope this book will spark in you a desire to be closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. If you consider yourself a strong, active member of the Church, I hope you will continue on that path. If you have doubts, I hope this book will inspire you to pray and receive the answers you’re seeking. If you have no testimony at all or even have angry feelings toward the Church, I hope you will find peace.

I know that God lives, that His Son, Jesus Christ, died for us, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who restored the true Church of Jesus Christ. May you find that same knowledge and feel the overwhelming love our Heavenly Father has for you. He has blessed me more than I could have ever imagined, and I know

He is ready to bless you too.
