Continue ShoppingCOVID-19 has done both terrible things to our world as well as brought out many amazing things. It is incredible to see the world come together to fight this virus, to find solutions, and to help one another. Although life isn't completely back to normal yet, it's exciting to see the progress we are making.
One of the awe-inspiring things that is happening on April 10th, 2020, is a worldwide fast for Good Friday participated by many religions and religious leaders who, although have different doctrines and beliefs, have decided to come together during this time and to unite in prayer and fast. 1.3 billion Catholics will all be participating in Good Friday, as well as members from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and different protestant and evangelical sects of Christianity.
But that isn't all who are participating. A Facebook group called "The Worldwide Fast April 10", created by Elder Jaden Taylor, and LDS missionary, has seen a growth of over 300,000 joined members who are committed to fasting on Good Friday. Members of this group have identified themselves from the following religious beliefs:
“During times of deep distress, as when illness reaches pandemic proportions, the most natural thing for us to do is to call upon our Heavenly Father and his Son — the master healer — to show forth their marvelous power to bless the people of the Earth,” President Nelson said on Saturday.
“Let us unite in pleading for healing throughout the world,” he added. “Good Friday would be the perfect day to have our Heavenly Father and his Son hear us.”
Will you be participating in this worldwide fast?

My wife, Mariazell, and I observed the Fast and prayer from the Philippines. Our children: Marianith (eldest) and her husband Curt Wilson with Jazell Marie (youngest) in Florida; and Jonell (2nd) in Idaho are observing this from their respective states and time zones. Elmar Jon (3rd), who is a fulltime missionary in Taichung, Taiwan, fasts with us in the same Manila-Taipe time zone.
We are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and we love to follow the counsel of our living prophet, President Russell M Nelson, that the present pandemic may be controlled, caregivers protected, economy strengthened and life normalized. I have also checked with my 7 siblings who each have their respective families confirming with me of their fast today.
We have also extended this invitation to our non-LDS friends of varied religious affiliatins and received positive responses.
April 10, 2020, the Good Friday of Holy Week, is truly, a WORLDWIDE DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING and my family feels grateful and honored to have participated this global faith cause to heal the world from COVID-19.

I am excited to fast and pray for an end to this pandemic, suffering, and financial unrest in the world. But more importantly that we might come closer to our Heavenly Father.
