As the population of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continues to grow, it would seem that many seasoned, mature couples who are ready to step up to the plate and assume their God-given duties would be flooding the earth as the Lord's emissaries. However, in 1980, President Spencer W. Kimball pointed out that we were falling far short of our potential with only eight percent of the total missionary force being represented by older couples. Unfortunately, that percentage has not changed much in the last four decades.
Randy and Vickie Bott have experienced the joy of serving a mission together on three separate occasions. Having served as mission presidents in Fresno, California, and as senior missionaries at BYU-Hawaii and Sydney, Australia, they bring a powerful perspective to senior missionary service. The experiences they share demonstrate the great strength that comes to our brothers and sisters throughout the world as couples make the sacrifice to share their selfless examples through serving with love. Brother and Sister Bott also shine light on the special bond that is created with serving your mission with your best friend.
Serving the Lord might appear to be frightening and overwhelming, but the resulting joy outweighs the sacrifices and the countless blessings exceed all expectations!
