Joseph Smith foresaw a 41-year, 8-month period "Hour of [God's] judgments" upon the earth, which culminates with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Beyond this, Joseph did not elaborate. Swanson has used this template to insert other timeframes and events that Joseph didn't discuss. The author believes that his own speculations should be questioned, but Joseph's paradigm is correct.
