Editorial Internship

Responsibilities include:

  • source checking
  • typing
  • proofing for other editors
  • and in some cases managing production of a book (which entails editing, entering corrections, designing the layout in InDesign, working directly with the author, and writing ad copy and cover blurbs).

I am going to school at Westminster College where they do not have an editing program but my emphasis is Creative Writing. Can I still apply?

How long are the internships? Could I do it for Spring/Summer terms as well as Fall or Winter semesters?

      Hi, Tesia,

Internships run for one semester. Interns who want to intern for more than one semester are considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Are they paid internships?

    Thanks!

    Dear Cedar Fort,

I’ve seen your representatives visit BYU the last couple Fall Semester recruiting interns. I have an open schedule this next Winter Semester and graduate in April, do you hire interns during Winter Semester? If not, even though I’ll have graduated, can I apply for an internship for Spring/Summer? I’m a Linguistics Major, minoring in Editing, but a career in Editing is what I want; would you still consider me?

What can I expect from an internship interview with Cedar Fort?

You’ll be asked to meet with one of our editors and take a test while you are here. This is an unpaid internship, by the way. I noticed that someone else asked that question.

Hi, I was wondering if I could apply for more than one internship at the same time. Also, I am looking to apply for a internship this coming Winter semester. When would you suggest I submit my application for the internship? Thanks!
