Cedar Fort, Inc., a publishing company in Springville, UT, is looking for a highly motivated substantive editor to join our team. The prime focus of this position is to read manuscripts and understand how they need to be changed for the better and then communicate that effectively to authors for rewrites and revisions. Cedar Fort publishes around 140 books per year. The subeditors are responsible for going through all manuscripts, which include a variety of religious and non-religious fiction and nonfiction books. Sometimes this occurs under tight time constraints.

We are looking for an individual that is an avid reader and that can quickly go through manuscripts spotting the trouble areas. Candidates should be excellent communicators and possess a team player mentality. Critical responsibilities include project managing several books per month. This includes reviewing manuscripts for publication, working directly with the authors, and managing author expectations. The subeditor will need to be able to work well with authors and maintain a strong relationship with them. This person also represents Cedar Fort to the public and to authors, and therefore, needs to have a positive and friendly attitude. Some overtime is required throughout the course of the year to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Very strong people networking skills
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge, Mac knowledge is a plus

The prime focus of this position is to aggressively search for unique creative content for publishing, media distribution, and merchandising. Cedar Fort publishes around 140 books per year. The Acquisitions team is responsible for filling the monthly quota of book slots, which include a variety of religious and non-religious fiction and non-fiction books. Sometimes this occurs under tight time constraints.

We are looking for an individual with the sales/ “hunter” mentality that will focus on going out and acquiring the talent. Candidates should be excellent communicators and possess a team player mentality. They must be able to effectively utilize social media, the Internet, and traditional searching methods to find new authors and manuscripts. In addition to seeking new content, this position will assist the sales department in finding new business channels and strategic relationships.

This includes soliciting to find good authors, negotiating contracts, reviewing manuscripts for publication, working directly with the authors, and managing author expectations. The acquisitions specialist will need to be able to work well with authors and maintain a strong relationship with them. Job Opening: Accounts Receivable

Cedar Fort, Inc., a publishing company in Springville, UT, is looking for a highly motivated accounts receivable specialist to join our team. The prime focus of this position is to handle accounts receivable and some HR duties for the company.

We are looking for individuals that are detail oriented. Candidates should be excellent communicators and possess adequate customer service skills when dealing with collections from vendors. Critical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Contact past due accounts via phone and email and provide information about invoices, chargebacks, adjustments, etc. and then make decisions about credit holds and collections forwarding;
  • Constantly monitor and maintain AR aging, resolve discrepancies, and submit claims;
  • Receive and deposit checks;
  • Occasionally enter orders, credit memos, and make adjustments;
  • Monitor inventory account to ensure all entries post to GL account at month close;
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card GL account;
  • Run backorders for a few accounts;
  • Charge customer credit cards and take payments;
  • Interact with and provide service to customers, generally business accounts, and occasionally individuals via phone, email, and occasionally in person;
  • Process, submit, and record payroll;
  • Manage insurance and 401k benefits and follow up with employees;
  • Hold insurance orientation meeting bimonthly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or other related field;
  • 1-2 year experience is preferred;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Very strong people skills;
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge, Mac knowledge is a plus

The prime focus of this position is book cover design and/or illustration. Cedar Fort publishes around 140 books per year. The design team is responsible for designing the book covers and interior layout. Book genres include a variety of religious and non-religious fiction and non-fiction books.

Candidates should be excellent designers and possess a team player mentality. Critical responsibilities include project managing several books per month. This includes front and back covers, interior layout on full color books, and working directly with the authors and your team to get a final approved design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Illustration, Graphic Arts, or other related field is required
  • Illustration skills are required
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Suite programs (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge, Mac knowledge is a plus
  • Experience in an office environment
  • Proven ability to balance and prioritize multiple goals and tasks
