In Twelve Sons of Britain, BYU scholar Lawrence Flake takes an insightful look into the lives of twelve noble leaders from Britain over a span of two centuries. They led diverse lives under different circumstances - from Derek A. Cuthbert, whose wife mistook three missionary elders for three strange men all named "Elmer, " to James Edward Talmage, who almost delayed his baptism because of a mysterious, angry howl from the darkened forest - yet all twelve shared a strong commitment to the Church, as well as to their noble birthplace.

Dr. Lawrence R. Flake is a professor of Church history and doctrine at Brigham Young University. He earned his master's degree and doctorate from BYU in religious education and has served as a teacher and an administrator for the Church Educational System for four decades in Utah; New York; Washington, D.C.; and Montana. He is the author of five books, including Prophets and Apostles of the Last Dispensation.
