Men and luck don't mix for Sophie Reid.

Ten years ago her father abandoned her and her mother for a younger, richer woman. The majority of boys her age ignore her. And now her boyfriend - the missionary she waited faithfully for over the last two years -- dumped her at the airport for a beautiful brunette he met in the mission field. Hurt and humiliated, Sophie vows to get even with Blake and get over him - fast.

Desperate for a full-scale makeover, Sophie is determined to shake off the girl she was and become the woman she wants to be. Standing up to her incredibly snobby relatives and getting back into the dating game proves to be easier than she thought, but can she trust the men she dates? Paul seems nice, but Sophie suspects he might be in love with another girl, and she's not about to put up with that again. Sam makes her heart flutter, but what about his psychotic ex-girlfriend - is Sophie in any danger? And to top it off, it appears that Blake may still love her. But will she allow herself to trust him again?

With the help of her best friend, Jacie, and her mother, Candy, Sophie comes to realize that the most important kind of makeover has more to do with love and forgiveness than with scissors and highlights.

Reviews-

Sophie Reid has faithfully waited for her missionary. During Blake's mission she wrote and sent care packages. At the airport she anxiously waits to welcome him home along with his family. As he comes off the plane, Blake ignores Sophie and is giving lots of attention to a beautiful brunette that he met on his mission. In front of his family, the beautiful brunette and an airport of strangers, Blake dumps Sophie and announces his engagement to the beautiful brunette.

As this reality sets in, Sophie is determined to get over her humiliation and work in a little harmless revenge. With the help of her best friend, Jacie, they come up with a five step plan to accomplish the harmless revenge and get Sophie back into the dating scene. This is complicated by Sophie's snobby relatives who are quick to point out all of her flaws. With a complete makeover, Sophie is ready to take on the dating scene and her snobby relatives.

Dealing with the relatives is easy and predictable, even if it takes more courage than she thought she had, but dating is hard. Now Sophie has Paul, Sam and Blake in her life. Sophie suspects that Paul is in love with someone else, Sam has a psychotic ex-girlfriend who is threatening her and Blake seems to have realized that maybe he made a mistake in dumping her. What is a girl to do?

As life moves on Sophie is coming to realize that perhaps love, forgiveness and honesty can have a bigger effect in a total makeover than scissors and highlights. This book has many intriguing elements in it to keep your attention, including courage, lies, love, conspiracy, drama, forgiveness and a bit of scandal. This is a fun light-hearted read with a slightly bent heroine who isn't afraid to find lasting love.
