With Tiny Talks, the next time your six-year-old says that dreaded phrase, you'll still be able to tie everyone's shoes, comb their hair, get to church on time, and have your child give a meaningful talk!
As the parents of five young children, Tammy and Chad Daybell have experienced this challenge themselves. To help others in the same situation, they have compiled a year's worth of talks that correspond with the 2002 Primary theme of "The Temple-I'm Going There Someday."
Each talk combines an interesting temple-related story with a valuable message. The talk also has a corresponding scripture and a list of pictures that could be used as visual aids, making Tiny Talks a valuable resource for Family Home Evening as well.
Watch for Volumes 2 & 3 of Tiny Talks in the upcoming months!
Reviews-
They have created talks that are simple enough for a child to read, but that are still interesting to the children in the audience. The talks feature a story from the scriptures or church history, and many are history stories I have never heard, making it likely that the children won't have heard them either. . . our Primary has been using them for class presentations and even for the Primary Sacrament Meeting program. . . Even teens and adults will find the stories fascinating enough to use in their own lessons and talks...
What a fabulous idea! My kids are currently giving talks 3 out of every 6 weeks. In the next four years, they ought to be giving talks 5 out of every 7 weeks. I usually use The Friend magazine, but I'm also doing Sharing Time every third Sunday and I'm running out of usable stories as more kids enter Primary. I hope you keep this up for the rest of your life! Thanks for writing this book!
Tiny Talks-Vol. 1:Temples surprised me. I was expecting this simple little books of basic little stories for children that could be turned into a talk. Instead, I found a wonderful resource for parents who are looking for solid gospel teachings in a short talk format with suggested scriptures and visual aids. This little book is a gold mine for families.
This book is so informative. I used it several times last year for my son to give talks in primary. I also used it myself when I was in the presidency for Sharing Time ideas. I use it for Family Home Evening presentations too. My son was 6 last year and had no trouble reading and presenting the talks in the book. He also could understand the concepts and add his own testimony to the talk.
I highly recommend these for any busy mom who would like a tool to help prepare primary themed activities!
