Marcus Edward Sheridan was born in North Carolina and spent most of his growing years living in Eastern Virginia along the Chesapeake Bay, in the small town Callao. It was not until his senior year that Sheridan was introduced to the missionaries and baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, during which time he was the only active male member of his high school.
After graduation, Sheridan moved on to the mountainous region of Morgantown, WV, where he attended college at West Virginia University. Upon working with the missionaries in Morgantown, as well as participating with other single adults, his testimony reached a point where he knew and understood the importance of serving a mission.
Marcus was called to serve in the Osorno, Chile mission from 1997 to 1999. He excelled greatly as a missionary and became well known throughout the mission for his enthusiasm, work ethic, and use of original teaching methods. Thomas Lyon, BYU professor and Sheridan's mission president stated, "Of all the missionaries that I worked with during my three year term, Marcus showed more ability to innovate and motivate than any other. Marcus demonstrates the fine ability to be creative and at the same time be perfectly obedient to mission structure and Church policies - a rare gift among missionaries. He continues to carry out this disciplined, innovative approach to life and missionary work.."
Upon completion of his mission, Sheridan married his long-time sweet heart, Nichole Hayden, and has since had a child with her while completing his studies in college. He has become very well known throughout Northern West Virginia for his motivational talks for the youth and his enthusiasm for sharing the gospel.
