Vione Israelsen Schow was born in Hyrum, Utah and lived on a dairy farm until she went away to Brigham Young University. Her training in writing came from The Institute of Children's Literature. She completed two courses there; she also took some night classes in writing at the Community School.
Vione married Robert Schow and had six children. They are all grown and living across the country.
Vione served five years in the Cambodian Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in West Valley City as Relief Society president.
