Lyman Hinckley Rose was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ford Thomas Rose and Beulah Hinckley Rose. He served in the Australia Sydney Spanish Mission, serving from November 1977 to February 1980. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985 with a degree in business finance. He spent the next eight years as an employee of his father's business, and later opened his own business in the same line of work -- making promotional products.
He has taught Missionary Preparation classes for nearly a decade on both the stake and college institute level.
He married the former Lesa Peterson in 1982. They have nine children. They lived in Holladay, South Salt Lake, Provo, and Sandy (for fourteen years) before settling in Bountiful.
The Rose family enjoys camping, riding motorcycles, traveling, fishing, and sports.
