| Alene Roberts was born and raised in the small town of Monticello, Utah. One of her happiest memories as a young child, before she could read, was the daily ritual of sitting on the floor in front of the bookcase looking through the books, even loving the smell of them. When she learned to read, it was like eating candy.
When ten years old, she contracted polio and had to spend a year in the hospital. It was during those long months, three hundred miles from home, that she discovered the joy of communicating her thoughts through her letters. She wrote every day to her family, to her friends, her relatives and anyone else she could think ofeven her beloved dentist.
Born a hopeless romantic, she wrote a truncated love story at the age of twelve. She always had a secret yearning to write, but never thought she could until a professor at college who taught an advanced creative writing class told her she should seriously consider writing. Though thrilled at the professor’s confidence in her writing ability, she decided to table her desire to write seriously until her children were raised. She did, however, write a lengthy children’s book while waiting in the car for her children at seminary. She also wrote an extended life history for each of her five children. Now, with her seventh book published, she says, "You’re never too old to accomplish your dreams!"
Alene graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in Drama, a minor in English, and a teaching certificate. She has made a study of behavioral genetics, neurological reading problems, and nutrition. Spending time with her husband, Elliott, family, friends, reading, enjoying nature and going to musicals are a few of her passions. She and her husband have five children and a slew of grandchildren. They have lived in Arizona and Texas, and now reside in Utah.
