| Walt Prothero's quest for trophy mule deer has taken him through six states and several Canadian provinces. He began hunting trophy bucks at the age of fourteen and has hunted each year since for thirty years, bagging more than sixty trophies. He has worked as a wildlife biologist, forester, bartender, wilderness guide, writer, and teacher.
He has earned both a Master of Science degree in wildlife biology and a Master of Arts degree in English. His successful deer hunts have led to scores of articles for Outdoor Life and Field & Stream, and a book, Stalking Big Game. He currently teaches English at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and is a contributing editor at Field & Stream magazine.
This book reflects his wide range of experience and skill. In Stalking Trophy Mule Deer, he shares tactics he's used successfully for big bucks, including tracking, driving, ambushing, rattling, still-hunting and stalking. Stalking Tophy Mule Deer includes a wide range of information on deer behavior, ecology, migrations and other biology useful to the would-be or experienced buck hunter.
What he writes makes interesting reading, too - the anecdotes in the book not only illustrate useable hunting techniques and show how things were in the "good old days," they also entertain and make for good fireside reading.
