Owen Mützelburg was born and raised in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia where he joined the Church with his parents and sister in 1960. After high school he began a career in radio as an announcer and copywriter. He served a full-time mission in New Zealand and returned home to marry Jannie Nieuwenhuizen and raise a family of seven children. He eventually became the Creative Director of an advertising agency.
Family History has been one of his life-long interests, leading to his becoming a semi-professional genealogist, famous in Australia for his expertise on German research. When his older children began to attend early-morning seminary, he decided to use the time while he was waiting for them to write family history documentary books. During those hours, he learned the elements of professional writing, and eventually was able to complete three books about his own ancestral families. Belyando's Treasure is his first novel.
