Dean & Nancy Hoch (“Hoke”) are a freelance, husband & wife travel writing team, sometimes called “The Dynamic Duo” of the active living crowd.
Nancy began her serious writing career at the age of nine when she won a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste in a fourth grade dental hygiene essay contest.
Dean’s career in writing began when he was required to do original research and write a 300-page dissertation, complete with endless footnotes, for his doctor’s degree at U.C. Berkeley.
Then, about 20 years ago, the couple figured it was time to combine their writing talents, and the rest is history. Now, just about everything they write is roughly a synergistic 50/50 proposition
Former educators, then travel agency owners, now travel writers, they are often on the road seeing the sights of the U.S. and the world (48 of the 50 States, so far, and five of the continents). They have 21 grandchildren and love taking them on trips (one at a time, of course) every chance they get.
The couple writes for an MSNBC-TV online affiliate, “Travel World Magazine.com”; also online, “Real Travel Adventures.com.” They are travel correspondents with regular columns for the “Idaho State Journal” and “Senior Connection,” the latter a Chicago-based magazine with a circulation of 150,000. Additionally, they are featured on travel news segments for KPVI-TV, an NBC-TV affiliate. Authors of seven books and hundreds of articles, their web site is: www.deanandnancy-ontheroadagain.com
