Richard L. Emery wrote for several Midwestern newspapers and radio stations. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a master's degree in political science and is a certified public accountant. He has written several articles for The Ensign, and the Church News. He lives in Madison, Wisconsin. He is a high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is the father of five children, has 26 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He has served in many callings in the Church, including: ward clerk, bishop's counselor, high priests' group leader, stake director of public affairs and stake executive secretary. He with his wife Helen recently served as a senior couple in the California Los Angeles Mission.
Richard has held various positions in state and federal government, including auditor with the Internal Revenue Service and investigator with the Federal Energy Department in the 1970s.
