Janet Burningham was born and raised in Provo, Utah. After graduating from BYU with a BS in elementary education, she taught elementary and middle school for several years. She has also developed curriculum for various educational programs, such as math and study skills. Currently she is a full-time mother.

Janet and her husband, Scott, are the parents of four children: Joshua, Katey, Madeline, and Benjamin.

Her hobbies include reading, writing, walking, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
