Dr. Raymond E. Beckham is a retired faculty member and administrator from Brigham Young University. He has been a member of the Church Melchizedek Priesthood Committee, the Church Adult Curriculum Committee, the Church Home Teaching Committee, and the Church Olympic Coordinating Committee. He has served as a Bishop, Stake President, Mission President, Temple Sealer and in a Temple Presidency, and Regional Representative of the Twelve.
He served eight years as a full-time volunteer in the Public Affairs Department of the Church. In community service, he was President of the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Chairman of the local Red Cross chapter, President of the Provo Downtown Alliance, and has been an active member of United Way and many other community organizations. He was awarded the BYU Presidential Medal, The Rotary Club’s Service Above Self Award, the Red Cross Clara Barton Award, the BYU Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award, Provo’s Outstanding Citizen Award, Scouting’s Silver Beaver Award, and was twice chosen by the BYU student body as their Man of the Year. He is a former private pilot.
He is the father of five children, nineteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. After his wife, IdaLee Jackson, passed away, he married Janette Callister Hales, former president of the Church Young Women. She and her former husband, Robert H. Hales, have five children and fourteen grandchildren.
