| Charles B. Beckert was born in Logan, Utah, the second of six children. His elementary school years were spent in Brigham City, Utah and he graduated from Weber High School in Ogden, Utah.. He was active in student government, music, and athletics during his high school years. Dr. Beckert filled an LDS Mission in Germany and upon his returned married Olga Boeslund in the Logan LDS Temple. They are approaching their forty seventh wedding anniversary.
The Beckerts raised four sons and are grandparents to thirteen.
Dr. Beckert holds education degrees from Weber State College, Utah State University, and Brigham Young University where he completed his doctoral work, earning a PhD degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Beckert taught in the LDS Church Educational System for thirty seven years and maintained a private practice as a certified psychologist and marriage and family therapist from 1974 to 2001.
He has published three books and fifteen audio tapes dealing primarily with psychological and family issues.
His personal (retirement) hobbies include wood carving, golf, playing guitar, and doing counted cross stitch. He continues his involvement with church service.
