Jeff Auerbach

Jeff Auerbach

Dr. Jeff Auerbach received his Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology from Widener University in 1994. His dissertation was entitled "Psychological and Emotional Issues in the World of Men's Sports".

Since completion of his training, Dr. Auerbach has worked in a variety of settings with a broad range of clients and issues, including anxiety, depression, work stress and performance, and relationships. He worked for a number of years in the community mental health system treating chronically mentally ill patients. Subsequently, Dr. Auerbach has worked with thousands of everyday, successful people (also known as "the worried well") in a number of outpatient settings, including EAP work with employees from companies such as MBNA America, Bank One, the United Stated Postal Service, Astra-Zeneca, Fed-Ex, and UPS.

Dr. Auerbach's primary specialty is helping people to identify and modify extremely common, though ineffective, patterns of behavior. Through years of research, he has developed an original format (called "The Three Jars Technique") that concretely breaks down the 18 issues or "buttons" of the human condition (i.e., principles such as fairness, control, or guilt). Through the use of this tool, Dr. Auerbach helps clients to systematically identify the (typically three) core issues that are the building blocks of their own personality. With this simple blueprint, a client is able to modify virtually any situation in their life that they would consider to be undesirable, including thoughts, feelings, reactions, choices, work performance, and all types of relationships.

Dr. Auerbach is currently in private practice. He does outpatient counseling with individuals and couples, and conducts workshops for a wide variety of clients, including relationship seminars for couples, as well as "Irritation Management" workshops for numerous public and private organizations and corporations.
